To uncover the hidden Grade II listed architecture in Maidstone Prison the Kent Cultural Baton held a one day exhibition of drawings made by people who enter the space, including inmates, prison wardens, and families of people inside. Participants were given a brief to respond to one of ten features;

A door, a wall, the water Clock, the multi faith church,  ‘Big Hannah’- the food recycling machine, a green space, a corridor, a window, a corner or a staircase.

They were asked to describe either by doing a line drawing or by using words. These anonymous submissions were compiled into a slide show to be projected inside the Baton  on the 16th December. The aim of this project is to reveal the hidden heritage of Maidstone.
