Amy Curtis, Lloyd Durling, Duncan Ward, Maggie Rose, Toni Batey and Nicole Mollett spent four days exploring and falling in love with the Romney Marsh. Brookland Church of England Primary kindly Hosted the Baton and artists on their land, and in return we gave the 101 pupils in the school a chance to come and see what we were up to, and have a go at making one of Maggie Rose’s Moths. On the first day we trecked to the remote Fairfield Chapel, where apon Amy installed her mini paper looker huts in a field of sheep for fellow walkers to discover. Duncan Ward started his epic daily project of making 20 hand bound YMRMR booklets, which then got posted to the corners of the globe (see photos for map of exact locations). Lloyd and Nicole went to the Hythe Crypt on the second day and found plenty of gruesome remains to inspire thoughts. Maggie and Toni did a series of experimental performances, including digging for treasures, three legged racing and a double drawing performance.
Nicole Mollett decided on the final day to make a model of the Brookland Church steeple, which then became a rocket/javelin. Several attempts were made to shoot the Rocket (we christened the Brookland Orbit) into global orbit, all sadly failed, but much fun was had in trying.
