Digital technologies have made most marine fog warning signals obsolete, yet for a day at the festival these sounds will return.
Installed at the Cultural Baton site, a small group of fog horns created with recycled materials and powered by hand will sit silent, until audience participation powers their sound and returns their lost songs.
Combined they will form a long conversation, a chorus, and signal noise last heard on the north Kent coast in the mid 1980's.
